This is the proposal for the future of Nihon-bashi river on which the highway will be shifted to the underground.
By using small dredgers, we propose to make a new river in Nihon-bashi river to make it possible that sight seeing ships transporting between Asakusa and Daiba will come to Nihon-bashi. In addition, soils came from digging will make the new artificial land in the river to make the new economic effect. Along the river, we will settle plants to clean the river water up and commercial and cultural facilities will be involved within these plants. This also makes inside with passive air condition effect. More than anything, Nihon-bashi river without highway above will be the road of the wind from Tokyo bay towards to the imperial palace, the center of Tokyo.
This is the project to rebirth the urban function Nihon-bashi river had had in Edo city regarding with the ruin of the stone wall of Edo castle’s outer moat in this river.
