This is a plan for an awning by Sankei Co., Ltd. located at the entrance to Sangenjaya’s Chazawa-dori shopping district.
The awning can be opened and closed by utilizing yacht parts manufactured at a shipbuilding factory. This makes maximum use of the excess space between the road and the property boundary.
By repurposing techniques not specialized in architecture, the result is a façade with originality that stands outside the framework of the streetscape created by architectural techniques.。
